The Zone welcomes a new tenant: the International Baccalaureate (IB).
A pioneer in international education
The IB is an international educational organization that has been striving to deliver high-quality education since its founding in 1968. With programs designed to foster not only academic but also personal growth, the IB has positioned itself as a pioneer in international education. We spoke with Global Director Business Development Haif Bannayan and Facilities Manager Colleen Sweeney.
The IB operates in over 150 countries and collaborates with more than 5,800 schools worldwide. They now offer four educational programs for students aged 3 to 19:
- The Primary Years Programme (PYP),
- The Middle Years Programme (MYP),
- The Diploma Programme (DP),
- The Career-related Programme (CP).
A holistic approach
These programs are globally recognized and designed to promote a holistic approach to learning, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills that are important for the future. “Children are the future,” says Bannayan.
An international organization in an international zone
By establishing itself in The Zone, the IB is taking a new step that aligns with its international ambitions. “I couldn’t imagine a better place than opposite the Peace Palace,” says Bannayan. IB’s team in The Hague looks forward to being surrounded by other socially responsible businesses. “It’s great to have neighbors from whom we can learn.” The office in The Zone is also the only IB office in the Netherlands. The IB Headquarters are located in Geneva, with additional Global Centres in Washington DC, Singapore, and Cardiff.
